Things and Stuff Wiki - An organically evolving personal wiki knowledge base. An on-the-fly taxonomy containing a patchwork trail of topic outlines, descriptions, notes, stubs and breadcrumbs, with links to sites, systems, software, manuals, organisations, people, articles, guides, slides, papers, books, comments, videos, screencasts, webcasts, scratchpads and more. Content is orientated towards mostly free/libre/open, mostly Linux. Quality and age varies drastically. Sometimes old things are first, sometimes last. Welcome! I use this wiki to keep track of knowledge and resources. If you might like to contribute, you can login via an OpenID account, using one of the (few remaining) services that provides OpenID. It's what gave birth to logging into other sites using your Facebook, Twitter, etc. account, and it saves the wiki from spam. You can get an OpenID account with StackExchange, Dreamwidth or LiveJournal. Using your own web domain name as your login: see for WordPress, or just a web server with PHP. A wiki is most often a work in progress. This is an outline of everything, cos why not, and it helps. Links (and commentary) saves, messy stubs sectioned, link titles added, summations remembered, sections refactored, pages and menu split, merged and moved, etc. The menu, page lengths and outline orders are organic, inconsistent and up for debate. Proper responsive layout for mobile devices coming soon-ish..

Origin: the Things and Stuff in Edinburgh Facebook events group (and Twitter) came first. The aim was to help disseminate information on free, low-cost and notable groups, institutions, spaces (and other things and stuff) in and around or relating to Edinburgh.

The wiki was created on 22/6/09 as an alternative to the temporal format of a social news services where older posts are not easily viewable to newer users. I later broadened the scope of information and merged in content from an older personal wiki.
