- Pishwanton Wood is a place of learning with a difference. Consisting of 60 acres (27 ha) of varied plant and animal habitat in a heavily glaciated landscape at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills in South-East Scotland, it has belonged to the Life Science Trust since 1996. The name ‘Pishwanton’ means ‘abundant waters’ after the multiplicity of springs on the land. Since the Trust acquired Pishwanton, it has become a centre for environmental education, research and therapy, offering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to renew and deepen their relationship with nature.
