• MIDI preview app - LV2. playback (synthesis) of MIDI snippets. give it a directory, it gives a playlist of MIDI files from that directory. when JACK transport is playing back, selected MIDI file is played and synthesised. basic - play selected MIDI file all the way through and start playing it again after. user is responsible for snippet length being a pattern/phrase length that goes with the underlying music. jack transport doesn't loop; no way to tell when the sequencer loops (so as to make us loop on that event), no way to tell the sequencer when our snippet loops and tell it to loop (although this would be possible another way - a transport master could do it, though there can only be one transport master client, so if it were possible at all, this task would fall to the controlling sequencer).
